Dodgers Injury News: LA Set to Welcome RHP Shelby Miller Back Soon

Amidst a week that saw the Dodgers receive some bad news regarding starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided a positive update on a key reliever who has been out for over two months.

Dodgers reliever Shelby Miller is nearing a return to the big leagues after being placed on the injured list on June 21 with a neck injury.

Miller was initially placed on the 15-day injured list, but his neck issues prevailed throughout the season. He had a strong start to the season before his early exit, holding a 2.40 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP across 30 innings.

Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that he thought Miller could return in one of the Dodgers’ six upcoming home games.

“I think it wouldn’t be surprising to see him back at some point during this homestand,” Roberts said.

The Dodgers bullpen could certainly use another reliable reliever. While the group has averaged out after a scary start to the season which saw the Dodgers hold one of the worst team bullpen ERAs in all of baseball, adding a veteran reliever with postseason experience would be a major boost.

The Dodgers are seemingly cruising to a division title, holding a 13-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks and the third-best record in baseball behind Atlanta and Baltimore.
