Dodgers: Mookie Betts Scratched From the Lineup With Hip Issue
The Dodgers and Giants are set to kick off their 4-game series tonight in Los Angeles. Tony Gonsolin gets the nod for LA in the start going up against RHP Kevin Gausman. The 2 teams are going to be battling it out for the division lead as they are separated by a game and a half.
The Dodgers will have to do it without Mookie Betts though as he was a late scratch in the lineup. Betts is dealing with a sore hip that forced him out of the game on Sunday in Colorado. He’s apparently been dealing with the injury all year, according to Dave Roberts this weekend.
Betts was originally in the lineup and playing in right field. The Dodgers later changed it and moved Matt Beaty over to right. Zach Reks was called up today with the Gavin Lux injured list move and will get the start out in left.

The move is a little bit of a surprise even after the Dodgers had Mookie take off Sunday afternoon. The fact that he was in the first draft of the roster indicates that he was probably almost good to go but the injury must have flared up.
No official word yet from the Dodgers on the injury aside from him being scratched from the lineup. Chris Taylor moved up into the leadoff spot with Mookie being scratched.

It is really hard to win games without Betts. So what happened?
He has right hip irritation and after pre.game workouts it flared up and now we find out it’s been a nagging issue all year long. It’s unfortunate but Betts too may need an IL stint instead of him on the sidelines leaving the team with another player short for in game use.
