Dodgers News: Bobby Miller Not Concerned With Innings Count in Rookie Season

This season, Bobby Miller has been a Godsend for the Los Angeles Dodgers as their starting rotation has been decimated by injuries. People looking in are worried about Miller since he has now pitched 116 innings between Triple-A and MLB this, the most in his professional career.

He shot down any concerns about fatigue and health fairly quickly.

“Honestly right now, I’m feeling better than ever. My arm is bouncing back great. My shoulder is bouncing back great,” he said Saturday. “My body feels outstanding right now.”

As Miller alluded to with DodgersNation.com during spring training, the rookie has made some changes in his physical conditioning program to help his endurance. He share more on that recently.

“Coming up in the minor leagues, the big thing for me was I would touch the mound a couple times between starts,” he said. “Now I just do one bullpen (session) in between starts. Sometimes I shorten them up. I just think I was touching the mound too much between starts in the minor leagues. That was probably part of the reason why I got hurt last year.”

The Dodgers need Miller to be healthy and strong through the postseason to have any chance of playing in the World Series.

For the first time in fifty years, the Dodger starting rotation has been wrecked. Only Clayton Kershaw is in the starting rotation from opening day. He missed a significant time with a shoulder injury, and he isn’t right yet.

Julio Urías won’t pitch again this season since he is facing legal problems.

Dustin May had elbow surgery and might pitch in the 2024 season.

Noah Syndergaard is out of the major leagues.

Currently, Michael Grove is on the IL, but he is expected to be activated this upcoming homestand to have a bullpen role.

The way it looks now, Dave Roberts will rely on Miller, Ryan Pepiot, Kershaw, and Lance Lynn in the postseason.
