Dodgers News: Chris Taylor Reacts to Being LA’s Robert Clemente Award Nominee

Chris Taylor is a do-it-all man for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He has been that way since he was acquired by the Seattle Mariners in 2016.

Taylor is outspoken yet also leads on the field by demonstrating extreme toughness and willingness to do what is needed for the team’s success.

His leadership on and off the field is being rewarded by the team in his nomination for the Roberto Clemente Award.

“I’m truly humbled to represent the Dodgers as the Roberto Clemente Award nominee,” Taylor said. “(My wife) Mary and I are incredibly proud to be a part of both the Los Angeles and Virginia Beach communities and to be recognized for trying to give something back to these great places and people is something I will hold in my heart forever.”

The Roberto Clemente Award is the yearly award to recognize the Major League player who best represents the game of baseball with community involvement and contributions on and off the field.

The Dodgers have had three winners for this award, Justin Turner in 2022, Clayton Kershaw in 2012, and Steve Garvey in 1981.

Taylor started his own foundation in 2020, the CT3 Foundation, which works to raise funds for children with life-altering conditions like cancer as well as raising awareness for those vulnerable in local communities.

The CT3 has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support families in local communities in Los Angeles and Taylor’s home town of Virginia Beach.

Chris and Mary Taylor held their first LA fundraiser called “Driving for Hope“, the event was held at Top Golf El Segundo where a star studded list of players, musicians, and actors tried to out-drive each other and ending the night with an auction including special Dodger experiences and a variety of sports memorabilia.

Chris Taylor has been a positive light in the Dodgers clubhouse ever since coming in 2016 and he is returning the favor by providing for a community that took him in with open arms.
