Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Has a Hard Time Choosing Between Lakers and Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers are getting set for Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Thursday against the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers are coming off a thrilling Game 1 win on Tuesday, and have stolen home-court advantage in the series.

Ahead of that highly anticipated Game 1 matchup, the guys on Spectrum SportsNet LA’s pregame show asked Clayton Kershaw about the series. They wanted to know if the reigning National League Pitcher of the Month would be watching the series, and who he had taking it. Here’s what he had to say ahead of the Lakers’ Game 1 win.

“It’s going to be awesome,” Kershaw said. “It’s such a great storyline. You know, we’ve got Trayce on our team and Klay’s come to Ping Pong before, so I’m a big fan of Klay and I’ll be rooting for the Warriors on that front. But, it’s pretty awesome to see what LeBron’s been doing. Talk about defying age — what he’s doing is pretty incredible, too. I’m just going to be a basketball fan. It’s gonna be a great storyline and it’s going to be a ton of fun to watch. And I’m sure Draymond will do something interesting too so it’ll be great.”

Kershaw is from Texas, so you can’t expect him to be a Laker fan. He, like many NBA fans, are just excited to watch a great series.

However, he did show somewhat of an allegiance to the Warriors because of Klay and Trayce Thompson, so it sounds like his rooting interest may be there.

But I don’t think most Dodger fans would like to hear that Kershaw is rooting for the Warriors, so we’ll go with the fact that he’s just watching as an NBA fan, and (hopefully) rooting for his local LA team.

Either way, it’s going to be a great series. Two of basketball’s greatest talents are going at it in LeBron James and Stephen Curry, and this Lakers team feels very special. Ever since the trade deadline, they’ve been arguably the best team in all of basketball.

I’m sure most Dodger fans are rooting for the Lakers, but I also know there are some Bay Area Dodger fans. Whoever you’re rooting for is okay, as long as you’re always rooting for the Dodgers.

Who are you rooting for in the Lakers/Warriors series? And who do you think will win? Let us know in the comments below!
