Dodgers News: Jonny DeLuca to be Recalled as Jake Marisnick Expected to Hit Injured List
The Dodgers were dealt yet another injury blow on Tuesday as outfielder Jake Marisnick will be heading to the injured list with a hamstring injury, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed to reporters following the team’s 10-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Marisnick came in as a pinch-hitter in the third inning, replacing Jason Heyward, who hit a three-run home run in the second inning. The Dodgers wanted to get Heyward some extra rest with the day game coming on Wednesday, but it proved costly for Marisnick.
Marisnick got a single in his lone at-bat, before being removed in the fourth inning after reportedly hearing a pop in his hamstring.
Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic was among those to report the news from Roberts.
Jake Marisnick is likely going on the IL, Dave Roberts said. Heard a pop. Will get an MRI tomorrow.

Marisnick will get an MRI on Wednesday, but it seems pretty sure that he’ll be hitting the injured list. It’s so sure that Ardaya reported that rookie Jonny DeLuca, who was sent down for Marisnick, will be coming back up.
Dodgers will bring up Jonny DeLuca as expected with Jake Marisnick likely going on the IL, sources tell The Athletic. https://t.co/8TOLMaH1Gy

It’s a huge bummer for Marisnick, who was just getting an opportunity with LA. He went 2-for-5 in a few games, but will now be on the shelf for what will likely be an extended period of time.
With Marisnick out, the Dodgers are now for sure going to need to add a right-handed bat this deadline. It’ll be interesting to see what they decide to do over the next few weeks.
