Dodgers News: Julio Urias Activated Off Injured List, Justin Bruihl Optioned

As expected, the Dodgers made the return of Julio Urias official by announcing his activation off the 15-day injured list. In a corresponding move, reliever Justin Bruihl has been optioned to Triple-A.

The left-hander was on the IL for much longer than anticipated after suffering a hamstring injury in a start in St. Louis back in early May. Ultimately, he spent just over six weeks sidelined and should be completely past any injury concerns. He was 5-4 with a 4.39 ERA in 10 starts before hitting the shelf.

Justin Bruihl pitched the final inning for the Dodgers in a win over the Royals last night. The left-hander is being optioned for the third time this season, so that’s something to watch going forward with the new limit on the number of times a player can be sent down to the minor leagues in a season.

The Dodgers are getting healthier at the right time leading up to the trade deadline. With Urias back and reliever Daniel Hudson also successfully making his return to the active roster on Friday, the club has a little more than four weeks to assess where the roster is before planning any big splashes before August 1st.
