Dodgers News: Julio Urias Completes Final Step Before Return to Action
The Dodgers have been with Julio Urias for nearly six weeks as he’s been sidelined with a hamstring injury. The left-hander has been slowly ramping up for his return and it looks like he’s finally ready to come off the injured list and plug back into the starting rotation.
Urias went out on a minor league rehab outing on Sunday, tossing 4 innings while allowing 1 run with the Rancho Cucamonga affiliate. He recorded 8 strikeouts while getting up to 60 pitches.
#Dodgers Julio Urias threw 60 pitches (plus a pitch-clock violation) over 4 IP on rehab with @RCQuakes today. Struck out 8 of 15 batters faced. Allowed 1 run on 2 hits and a walk. Next? Probably with LAD in Kansas City next weekend. Been out since May 18 with hamstring injury

His fastball touched 95mph in the outing and he used his entire pitch mix.
The Dodgers have sorely missed Julio in the rotation for the last month-plus, going 15-16 in his absence thus far. The pitching staff has been overworked as starters have struggled to pitch deep into games.
This hasn’t been Urias’ best season by any stretch of the imagination. He had a 4.39 ERA over his first 10 starts as he struggled with the long ball, posting a career-worst 2.3 HR9. The hope for the Dodgers is that the time off offered the left-hander a chance to reset and work on any mechanical issues.

A healthy Urias will start next weekend against the Royals in Kansas City.
