Dodgers News: Max Muncy Reveals Latest Update on Shoulder Injury

After Max Muncy left the game on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves with a shoulder injury, there was hope that it was minor. Luckily for everyone, it seems that he indeed may have avoided anything overly serious.

He is hoping to return to the lineup at some point this week after taking swings in the batting cage prior to the opening game against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Muncy is a needed commodity in the Dodgers lineup, so getting him back will surely help. He spoke on the injury and provided an update on it.

“It’s just one of those things where I took a swing and felt my back shoulder grab,” Muncy said. “It almost felt like it popped out but it didn’t. So I think we avoided anything serious. It feels okay now. We’ll see in a day or two what it feels like.”

Per The OC Register

The Dodgers have dealt with enough injuries this season, so thankfully one of their main guys is okay. He provides them with a big power bat in the lineup that they can’t easily replace.

On the year, Muncy is hitting .206 with 32 home runs and 91 runs batted in. The batting average is nowhere where he would like it to be, but he has found other ways to produce this season.

He still puts fear into the hearts of opposing pitchers due to his ability to hit it out of the ballpark, so teams do need to worry about him. Plugging him into this Dodgers offense is easy for manager Dave Roberts due to Muncy’s skillset.

Muncy is going to be a relied-upon member of this team down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs. He has been one of the better hitters in the biggest moments, so they will be counting on him to produce big once again.

LA continues their series against the Marlins before they head to the Nation’s Capital to face the Washington Nationals this weekend.
