Dodgers News: Max Muncy to Undergo Testing for Hamstring Injury
The Dodgers lost Max Muncy while losing to the Rays 11-10. Injury to insult. The third baseman exited Sunday’s contest early after pulling up a little awkwardly at second base while on the basepaths. He stayed in the game and eventually scored a run on a sacrifice fly but the team didn’t like what they were seeing out of the slugger.
Officially, the Dodgers say Muncy suffered a left hamstring cramp. The infielder said that the issue happened two days in a row and made him alter how he was running. Juan Toribio was among those to report.
Max Muncy said he cramped up in each of the last two games. He wanted to stay in the game, he said, but the #Dodgers decided to think long term instead of pushing through it and potentially making it worse.

Max Muncy has felt some cramping in his left hamstring the last couple days — basically bothered him every time his left leg was trailing. Fought to stay in the game. Dave Roberts said he will get an MRI tomorrow.

In all likelihood, Muncy will miss a few games — possibly the series against the Nationals at Dodger Stadium — to give him time to get right. The timing is rough as it looked like Max was starting to heat up at the plate with 3 hits and 2 home runs over the previous two days.
It’s been an interesting season for the 32-year-old. He’s been among the league leaders in home runs for most of the season but also struggling to keep his batting average above .200 at times. He’s still getting on base at a high enough clip and always brings that power potential to the lineup.
Who Will Fill in For Max Muncy if He Misses Time?
If Muncy is forced to go on the injured list, rookie infielder Michael Busch is an option to get called back up from Triple-A. But he’s been struggling since rejoining the OKC squad hitting just .189 over 14 games. Chris Taylor would likely see the majority of playing time either way if Muncy misses any games.
Of course, he’s not a big fan of missing any time.
