Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Hopes to Be a Hall of Famer One Day

Dodgers star utility man Mookie Betts has already put together quite the career. At 30 years old, Betts’ resume speaks for itself and shows why he is easily one of the best players in the game today.

He is a two-time World Series champion, an American League MVP, an American League batting champion, a seven-time All-Star, a multiple-time Gold Glove Winner, a multiple-time Silver Slugger and more.

He still has a lot of his career left to go but like many athletes, Betts has more goals in mind. His next one may be the biggest for him and that is to one day become a Hall-of-Famer.

The great players are never satisfied with just hitting their original goals and they are always looking to up the stakes. It is what normally drives them and they use it as motivation to keep going despite all the accomplishments already seen. Betts is no different in this regard.

“I think my goal now is to become a Hall of Famer,” Betts told FOX Sports earlier this week. “And whatever that consists of, that’s what I’m trying to do. The rings, being a team guy, asserting myself a little bit, kind of embracing the platform, all those types of things I think will be what help me get to that end goal.”

Betts seems to keep getting better every season he plays and 2023 may his best yet. He sits with an average of .276 with 26 home runs and 62 runs batted in. He hit 35 home runs last season, which was his own single-season home run record so he is on pace to beat that if he keeps up his strong level of production.

He also has seen the highest walk rate of his Dodger career this season and he holds the second-lowest chase percentage among qualified batters in the game. Betts is always looking for ways to improve his incredible skillset and that is what will get him to Cooperstown if he continues on this path.

The now veteran outfielder understands that he has a long way to go before he hangs up his cleats but this new goal is what will drive him. He is a special player and the Dodgers organization is lucky to have him a part of their family
