Dodgers News: Ryan Pepiot Officially Activated to Start Thursday’s Game

Amidst a flurry of questions suddenly surrounding the Dodgers’ rotation, one promising young arm is set to make his return to the major league club after a quick stay in Triple-A.

Coming back from OKC after just a few days, Ryan Pepiot is poised to take the mound for LA to close out their series against the Marlins on Thursday.

After a dominant August where the Dodgers didn’t lose a single series the whole month, an improvement to their starting pitching was a big key to such a result.

Lance Lynn looked like a steal at the trade deadline, Julio Urias was pitching as he did in years past and Clayton Kershaw’s injuries looked to be a thing of the past.

Unfortunately for all three of those names, they’ve all dealt with additional questions in the time since with Lynn’s linked to his on field performance, Urias’ concerning to his recent arrest off the field and Kershaw’s being related to the health of his shoulder headed into October.

Pepiot’s call up is a clear indication that the team views a big role for the righty in the postseason as he’s fully recovered from an oblique injury that robbed most of his regular season at the big league level.

In the months since, Bobby Miller among other rookies like Gavin Stone and Emmet Sheehan have all had significant contributions on the mound to help navigate the 162 game regular season in LA.

Though such measures were mainly to protect the veterans who were on the mound and/or struggling, the reliance on arms from the farm such as Pepiot’s might not be an option, but the only solution for the team’s championship hopes.
