Dodgers News: Shelby Miller Officially Activated, Ryan Pepiot Optioned
The Los Angeles Dodgers made a roster move ahead of Thursday’s series opener against the Atlanta Braves. The team officially activated RHP Shelby Miller off the injured list, and optioned RHP Ryan Pepiot.
Miller hasn’t pitched since June 15 as he’s been dealing with a neck issue that just has not gotten better. He initially went on the 15-day injured list, but had to be moved to the 60-day as he had tons of pain in his non-throwing arm.
Miller, however, is finally fully healthy, and will rejoin LA for the stretch-run of the season.
Before going down with the months-long injury, Miller was one of LA’s best relievers, sporting a 2.40 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 30 innings. He will have ample time to get back into a groove ahead of the postseason.
As for Pepiot, he’s coming off another great appearance, this time as a starter. He threw five shutout innings on Wednesday, and lowered his ERA to 1.29 on the year.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts did say that Pepiot has continued to earn more opportunities, so it’s unlikely he’s down in Triple-A for long. However, someone will have to be placed on the IL in order for him to come back, so we’ll see what the Dodgers end up doing.
Pepiot deserves a consistent spot in the rotation, though, so hopefully he’s back up sooner rather than later.
For now, though, welcome back Shelby Miller. The Dodgers have missed you dearly.
