Dodgers News: Walker Buehler Diving into Mechanics Looking for Why He’s Injured His Elbow Twice

Walker Buehler is working his way back from the second Tommy John surgery of his professional career. While going through another strenuous rehab process, Buehler wants to see how he can protect his valuable right elbow.

He recently plugged in at the Titleist Golf Performance Institute in Oceanside, Calif., to get connected to the facility’s advanced software in an attempt to identify any inefficiencies in his mechanics and delivery. His reasoning is simple… he’s now injured his multi-million dollar right arm twice.

“I’ve hurt my elbow twice now pretty seriously, so there’s a part of what’s in my delivery that isn’t working — while also trying to keep the things that do work well,” Buehler said. “We’re going to try to alter how I train or how I practice to kind of clean up some of that stuff. All in all, I think it’s one of those things where I’m just trying to take care of myself and my body.

The strive for excellence is what the Dodgers miss about Buehler. He wants to return this season and help the Dodgers. Normally, it takes about fourteen months after having Tommy John surgery to return to a major league mound, and Buehler is trying to do it in just over 12 months.

Buehler continued.

“Now we’re going to try to alter how I train or how I practice to kind of clean up some of that stuff. All in all, I think it’s one of those things where I’m just trying to take care of myself and my body and coming back and being able to perform is the biggest thing.”

While Buehler underwent his second Tommy John surgery, it wasn’t normal Tommy John surgery. He had bone spurs cutting into the UCL. Always thinking and wanting to improve, Buehler will be a great addition to the Dodgers if he can return this season.
