Dodgers Not Interested in Blake Snell, Says New York Post Insider

The biggest priority for the Dodgers this offseason is now the starting rotation. After the issues that arose last year, the front office wants to make sure they’re more prepared in 2024.

The Dodgers have been looking all over the free agent market and on the trade front for help, as they look to add multiple pieces to the rotation. They have already added one piece, acquiring right-handed starter Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays and extending him on a five-year contract.

Getting Glasnow is a great start, and he gives them a front-line starter. But they are far from done improving the rotation.

MLB Insider Jon Heyman of The New York Post is reporting that the Dodgers are in on every pitcher except the reigning National League Cy Young award winner.

“The Dodgers are showing interest in seemingly every pitcher but Snell.”

Per Jon Heyman of The New York Post

This is very interesting, to say the least, but it’s likely due to the price that it would take to ultimately land Snell. With MLB super-agent Scott Boras representing him, the cost to sign Snell is going to be extraordinarily high.

Snell was great last season, posting an ERA of 2.25 and a WHIP of 1.20 over 32 starts for the San Diego Padres. He was virtually unhittable at times, leading to his award-winning season.

He has killed the Dodgers over the years, so if they were to sign him, at least they wouldn’t have to face him anymore. Snell has posted an ERA of 2.59 over 13 career starts against L.A. in his career.

But the dream from some Dodgers fans of landing Snell seems to be fading very quickly. With Glasnow now in the mix, the team seems to be shiftering their focus to free agent Yoshinobu Yamamoto as the big-ticket free-agent starter.

While Yamamoto will likely cost more than Snell, he’s just 25 years old, and has a long career ahead of him. Snell just turned 31 years old.

  1. I prefer Yamamoto over Snell although I respect Snell for always pitching well against the dodger

  2. How could you not be interested in the Dodger KILLER! Money is no object plus you can use his service when Glasnow is injured and not knowing how long Two Tommies Ohtani,Buehler and May will pitch.,

    1. Because Boras is his agent. He’ll market him – and expect payment – as the second coming of Koufax.

      1. I don’t like Boras, but It’s worth while to deal with him if the D’s can get a proven regular and post season starting pitcher. We pretty much got Ohtani for free for the next ten years,so spend the money to get an anchor in the rotation.

  3. Glasnow is injury prone! duh he will blow it out after a few starts duh meepmeep
