Dodgers Notes: Max Scherzer Deals While LA Loses Heyward, Bobby Miller to Injuries

The Dodgers lost a flat one in the series finale to the Mets in New York, scoring just one run while being stifled by old friend Max Scherzer. Mookie Betts was the offensive hero for LA, tying the game late with an RBI single in the 8th inning but that was all the team could muster as the bats were held to just 4 hits in the extra innings loss.

Bobby Miller got the start for LA and couldn’t get out of the 5th inning as he dealt with knee discomfort. When he was in the game, he was regularly touching 99 with the fastball and recorded 5 strikeouts in the no decision. After the game he said the knee was a non-issue and expects to make his next start against the Rangers in Texas.

Beyond Bobby Miller’s knee discomfort, the Dodgers also lost Jason Heyward early in the game with a neck issue after he collided with second baseman Jeff McNeil while trying to stretch a single to a double. He stayed in the game for another inning-plus before his neck stiffened up.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Heyward is day to day.

The boys in blue travel to Baltimore to take on the upstart Orioles who have been one of the best teams in baseball this season. RHP Emmet Sheehan gets the start for LA.
