Dodgers: Padres Outfielder Compliments LA; Predicts More San Diego Wins vs LA

Even before the trade deadline this season, the Padres were supposed to compete with the Dodgers. There looked to be 3 teams competing for an NL West title in 2022, with the Giants coming off of that miracle season in 2021. Instead, it has very much become a one-horse race.

The Dodgers took 8 consecutive games from the Giants in a pair of 4-game sets. They also just took the first 2 games of the series from the Padres this weekend, right after they traded for Juan Soto and Josh Bell, among others.

Despite that, the Padres maintain hope that things will get turned around. Wil Myers spoke about the series with the Dodgers and acknowledged that Los Angeles has fielded a very good team since he’s been with San Diego. But he also thinks the Padres will eventually turn things around against their NL West counterparts.

“They’ve been a great team for the eight years I have played here, and it’s no different. They do a great job. It’s a great organization over there that does a good job of putting a team on the field. At some point I think when we get going and get this team together a little more, we’ll turn around some wins.”

If they want to turn things around, time is very much running out for the Padres. They chase the Dodgers by a whopping 13.5 games heading into Sunday evening’s game. The 2 teams will meet up 9 more times for the remainder of the season.

So while there is still technically time, the Dodgers would have to have an epic meltdown just to make it close.
