Dodgers Rumors: Insider Thinks 5 Teams Could Pursue Jason Heyward This Offseason

Veteran outfielder Jason Heyward was one of the best surprises of the season for the Dodgers this past year. He signed on with a minor-league deal in the offseason but worked his way to being one of the more important pieces to the team.

He will be entering free agency this winter, and it remains to be seen if he will be back. Both sides would love to work together again, but the Dodgers have many other pressing needs to handle first off, and Heyward may want to have a bigger role than LA can offer him.

If the Dodgers and Heyward aren’t able to come to terms with him coming back, he will have no shortage of suitors. His value across the league has skyrocketed from what it was last season, and there are going to be teams needing a guy like him.

“The Braves, Heyward’s childhood club and the one he debuted with, could make some sense if they decide not to pick up their $9 million club option on Eddie Rosario. Perhaps the Astros could be an option, should they let Brantley walk. The Mariners could use a left-handed bat. So could the Yankees or Blue Jays.”

Per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic

The Mariners and Braves make the most sense to me, with both needing someone like Heyward. Seattle could use him for his veteran experience to help them get back to the postseason, and his going back to Atlanta would be a great storyline.

Of course, LA fans are hoping that Heyward will return to the Dodgers next season. But he may have priced himself out of the plans with his play.

On the season, he hit .269 with 15 home runs and 40 runs batted in. He was consistent throughout the year and produced the Dodgers with a ton of excitement all year.

If this was his only season in Dodger Blue, Heyward made lifelong fans of the Dodgers faithful, and we thank him for his time. Only time will tell what will happen, and luckily, it shouldn’t be too long until we find everything out.

  1. I now that a lot an happen, but in regards to Jason Heyward,I really hope he an stay. His veteren influence is really needed.
Especially now that Justin Turner is gone, and who knows how Clayton Kershaws will end up.

    Dear Santa,

For Christmas I would love to see Jason Heyward back in Dodger Blue, along with at least two outstanding pitchers. And Otahani,
if not for his pitching this year, then for his bat alone, until 2025 when he should be good to go both ways again.
