Dodgers Rumors: Kiké Hernandez Could Play a Key Part in LA’s Plan This Offseason

For as long as anyone can remember, the Dodgers have valued the multifaceted style of players. They like guys who give them flexibility within their roster, and it has been apparent in how they use their players.

One of the better ones over the years has been utilityman Kiké Hernandez, so when the team brought him back midseason this past year, it was seen as a great decision. He spent a few years in Boston but was ecstatic about returning to Los Angeles for the second part of the season.

Now he will be a free agent once again, and the Dodgers will need to decide what to do with him. MLB insider J.P. Hoornstra of The Orange County Register looked at Hernandez and believes that he has a good chance of being resigned for the 2024 season.

“Gave the Dodgers an average bat and versatile defense – exactly what was expected – after arriving in a midseason trade with Boston. He fits on any roster, even more on a team locked into one DH who doesn’t play the field. Bringing back Martinez, or signing Shohei Ohtani, only makes a reunion with Hernandez more possible.”

Hernandez looked like a completely different player once he joined Los Angeles during the trade deadline, and it was a needed acquisition. He helped the Dodgers in many ways, and he seemed to enjoy playing baseball again.

He fits exactly what the Dodgers like to do, and he produces as well. Hernandez brings energy to the clubhouse, and he is the perfect player for this team to use going forward.

While he isn’t the same as he was even a few years ago, he showed that he could still be a valuable member of this team. He produces in the playoffs as well, which is something that can never be overstated.

Hernadez is also a fan favorite, so bringing him back would excite the fanbase. LA should do whatever they can to bring him back going forward, and it will greatly help them as a team.

  1. A No Brainer, Kike must stay a Dodger …. ! Way too many ways Kike pumps up the team , and a 2 to 3 years contract would be perfect . Kike must stay ….!!!

  2. I can’t believe Dodger mgmt would even think about giving up Kikè. He is a Dodger player that needs to be here

  3. What, give up Kiké? Oh, hell no.He gives too much to the club to let him walk away as a free agent.
