Dodgers Rumors: LA Among Top Landing Spots for Lucas Giolito, According to Latest Odds

With the trade deadline approaching, we are entering rumor season. Teams and players are going to be put together for different reasons over the next few weeks with some being true and some being to throw smoke over a situation.

Any team that has starting pitching available will likely be linked with the Dodgers due to their clear need to upgrade at that spot. LA has been uncharacteristically poor within their pitching this season and they are expected to make some major moves to boost their chances come playoff time.

One of the more common names that continuously is linked with LA is Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito. With the White Sox pretty much out of the playoff race, many are expecting them to sell off multiple players at the trade deadline.

According to the latest odds at Illinoisbet.com, the Dodgers are tied for the second-best odds to be the next team of Giolito after the deadline at +500. They are behind the White Sox themselves and tied with the upstart Baltimore Orioles.

Adding a pitcher like Giolito would greatly benefit this Dodgers rotation as he would bring stability to the team. They have dealt with so many injuries this season and getting a guy like Giolito who they know will show up would be massive.

On the season, he owns an ERA of 3.96 over 20 games pitched. He also has added in 122 strikeouts over 116 innings of work. Giolito was rocked in his last start against the New York Mets, where he gave up eight runs over 3.2 innings but hey, everyone has a bad day.

He is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season, so the risk is a little lower in case things don’t work out. Additionally, they may be able to get him for a slightly lower price due to him being a possible rental player as well.

Giolito would get the chance to come back to Southern California and play, which I’m sure he would love. He would also get to work with the Dodgers staff to improve his game over the final months of the season, getting him in the best possible place before his free agency starts. It’s almost a win-win if the Dodgers are able to acquire him at the deadline.
