Dodgers Rumors: Yankees Star Advocates for Return of Aaron Judge

The respect for Aaron Judge in his young career transcends through the MLB as the slugger has already amassed 220 career home runs. A huge boost to that comes at the heels of his AL record breaking season knocking out 62 home runs here in 2022.

The bet that Judge put on himself is about to pay off as he will hit free agency as arguably the top player to go after. Instead of signing a contract extension with the Yankees, Judge now is speculated to make upwards of $400 million. And, by all accounts, the Dodgers plan on being in the running for his services.

Among the MLB’s elite who recognize what Judge brings to the table we don’t have to look far as his teammate Anthony Rizzo, who has been with the Yankees the past two seasons, understands the impact Judge has made on the field and for the franchise as a whole (quotes via Chris Kirschner and The Athletic Staff, The Athletic).

“The money he’s brought to this organization, to this franchise, to the game of baseball, I’m sure just the money alone in September of him chasing 62 was enough to easily pay (him),” Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo said. “There’s plenty of money in this game to be spread around. For him, whatever he gets is going to be astronomical, and he deserves it.”

Rizzo isn’t wrong. Judge deserves the money but ultimately it will come down to who will pay him the most money.

Judge can elect to stay with the Yankees another season with the championship aspirations they have, but if the Yankees aren’t willing to offer an astronomical amount of money it will be hard to imagine Judge turning down a huge paycheck.

Perhaps a paycheck the Dodgers are willing to pay.
