Max Muncy’s Return Timeline Pushed Back by Dodgers

When Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy landed on the injured list, it was somewhat surprising. Manager Dave Roberts thought he would return sometime next week but that doesn’t seem to fit the timeline anymore.

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register posted on social media with a more detailed update saying the Dodgers “will proceed cautiously.”

The news from Roberts is disappointing considering Muncy was spotted on the field Tuesday during pregame warmup fielding grounders and playing catch.

In his previous update, Roberts said Muncy will go on a one- or two-game rehab assignment before he is ready to rejoin the Dodgers. He is currently on the 10-day injured list and is eligible to return Sunday.

Muncy has been a consistent power hitter during his seven-year Dodger career. In 791 games, the lefty from Texas has slashed .230/.354/.486 with a .840 OPS, a 125 OPS+, 184 home runs, and 500 RBIs in 2,667 at-bats.
