MLB News: One of Baseball’s Worst Umpires Finally Officially Retired
On Friday, the baseball world let out a collective sigh of relief when long-time MLB umpire Joe West officially announced his retirement. Country Joe spent the better part of 45 years in uniform and became a legend in the game for all the wrong reasons.

Joe West has officially retired, which means it’s the perfect time to revisit this iconic rant by Hawk Harrelson.

The timing of his retirement is certainly suspect, to say the least with the news that robot umpires could be just one step away from MLB this coming season.

Everyone’s favorite Scott Boras puppet, Jon Heyman, got in the mix too by putting a hold on Country Joe’s Hall of Fame enshrinement.
Joe West retired today. So officially commencing my campaign for him NOT to be voted into the Hall of Fame via Today’s Era group in December. He’s eligible. But plenty of better candidates: Bonds Clemens Schilling Sosa McGriff McGwire Bernie Lofton, plus Bochy Leyland Piniella.

Now all we need is to be rid of Angel Hernandez.
Other umps are notorious.
“one of the worst”? I find your site one of baseballs worst with your biased reporting, You need to be a little more like Vin Scully
So, did my post get your panties in a wad??
I’m soooo glad this POS is finally out of the game.
Joe was/is one of the best. True baseball fans will miss you Country Joe.
Entertaining but one of the worst ball and strike umps ever.
Later days ump.
