Report: Clayton Kershaw’s Contract Includes $10 Million Guarantee

The Dodgers’ contract with Clayton Kershaw will guarantee the future Hall of Fame pitcher $10 million once it becomes official, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

Citing unnamed sources, Ardaya reports that Kershaw’s 2024 salary starts at $5 million and can max out at roughly $12 million. Addressing reporters in spring training for the first time Thursday, Kershaw said he is targeting a “July-ish, August-ish” timetable to return to the mound.

The player option in Kershaw’s contract for 2025 guarantees an additional $5 million, according to Ardaya.

Kershaw, who underwent surgery back in November to repair the glenohumeral ligaments and capsule in his left shoulder, will not be ready for the beginning of the regular season in March. Thursday, he said he’s in the second week of his throwing program.

Kershaw, who turns 36 in March, is 210-92 with a 2.48 ERA in a career that began in 2008.

  1. You know; Clayton is truly a class act. He has made his big bucks. Now, he could be challenging the 3000 K mark this year, and MAYBE Don Sutton’s win record next year. Who knows. The shoulder surgery may have been a catalyst to rekindle his career for a few more years.
