Shohei Ohtani’s Next Two Games Revealed

Spring training games tend not to draw much of a crowd as they usually don’t feature a team’s best lineup. However, Dodgers spring training games have been “must-watch television” whenever Shohei Ohtani is in the lineup.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced on Friday when Ohtani would play in his next Cactus League game. Roberts said Ohtani will get at-bats against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday and then again on Tuesday against the Anaheim Angels.

The latter of the two games will be the first time Ohtani will face his former team. That alone will make Tuesday’s match-up more than an average spring training game.

Thus far, Ohtani has been as advertised and more with the Dodgers. He has logged two hits in four at-bats including a two-run home run in his first Cactus League game.

While Roberts called Ohtani “more of a free swinger” compared to his superstar teammates Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, Ohtani has shown great plate discipline. In his six plate appearances, Ohtani has struck out just once and walked twice.

Ohtani set a goal of 50 at-bats before spring training ends, as he wants to make sure he is ready for the regular season. Right now, he’s on track to meet that goal and be ready for the Dodgers’ opening series against the San Diego Padres in South Korea.
