Tyler Glasnow Dominates Giants Across 5.1 No-Hit Innings, Looks Ready for Dodgers’ Opening Day

Tyler Glasnow looks ready for Dodgers’ Opening Day.

Glasnow, who was named the Dodgers’ Opening Day starter on Monday, got his final start of the spring on Tuesday, and was lights out.

Glasnow allowed zero hits and one walk through 5.1 innings of work, while striking out eight Giants batters.

Here’s his final line:

He left the mound to a standing ovation from the Dodgers faithful at Camelback Ranch, and made it clear Dave Roberts and the Dodgers made the right decision giving him the Opening Day nod.

Glasnow said on Monday that it meant “everything” to be named L.A.’s Opening Day starter, and if he can put together an outing close to the one he had on Tuesday, the Dodgers will be in great shape when they start their season on March 20.

On the offensive side of things, the Dodgers exploded in the bottom of the fifth inning on Tuesday, bringing four runs across the plate thanks to two-run home runs by both Will Smith and Teoscar Hernández.

  1. The Dodgers are averaging 7 runs per game. Over a full season that is over 1100 runs. No modern-era MLB team has ever done that in a season. 1067 by the 1931 Yankees is tops in the modern-era [20th -21st Century]. .841 OPS for the team so far this spring. Do Spring Training stats mean nothing? For the most part, the best hitters on the team have had the best Spring Training stats, just better than you would expect. OPS — Betts 1.114, Freeman 1.012, Ohtani 1.395, Smith .731, Muncy 1.255, Teoscar Hernandez .952, Outman 1.035, Heyward .418, Lux .664. Josue De Paula – 1 AB 1 HR. Small sample sizes, pitchers not ready yet? 13-4 record. Team ERA – 3.96. It is just Spring Training, but these stats could not be better.

  2. As you said, it’s just Spring training. Even the top starters of other teams are not showing their best stuff. It won’t carry over to the regular season or playoffs at that rate. But it is encouraging that all the big guns seem to have their act together.

Now trade Barnes and keep Okey.
