Dodgers’ Blake Treinen Gets Rehab Surprise
Blake Treinen was handed the ball in a surprising start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, which could lead to a return to the Los Angeles Dodgers soon.
The relief pitcher delivered two strikeouts in his second consecutive scoreless inning on back-to-back nights.
Treinen has now appeared in all five games of his rehab assignment, all with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has allowed five runs in 4.1 innings of work with six strikeouts and no walks.
Manager Dave Roberts has said multiple times that Treinen would need to pitch on back-to-back days before he would be activated. He can now check off that box and it is possible that Treinen could be activated on this homestand, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
Treinen has yet to make his season debut since landing on the injured list after taking a comebacker off his chest causing a bruised lung on March 9. He last pitched for the Dodgers in 2022 after having shoulder surgery to repair his labrum and rotator cuff.
Roberts hinted that he could be activated on Sunday.
