Blake Treinen Feels He Owes it to Dodgers to Pitch in 2024

The Los Angeles Dodgers have suffered injuries to their top players over the last handful of years. However, no position group has suffered more than their pitchers, starting and relief.

From Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Daniel Hudson, Tony Gonsolin, and Dustin May, the list goes on and on. The Dodgers relievers have been a big boost more times than not, and that’s without their top reliever, Blake Treinen.

Treinen did not pitch all of 2023, and he hopes for that to change in 2024. The 35-year-old spoke to reporters on Friday, including Dodgers Insider Cary Osborne. Treinen said he owes it to the organization to pitch and pitch well this upcoming season.

“My biggest thing is I want to be healthy,” Treinen said. “I sat out for practically two years now, and the organization blessed me, and it doesn’t sit well with me that I haven’t performed to bless them (back for what) they blessed me financially. The biggest reason for me coming back is I want to at least honor my contract and give them what they at least invested in.”

Treinen last pitched in the 2022 National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. In his outing, he gave up one earned run on a solo shot by Jake Cronenworth in Game 2.

The righty reliever was forced to miss the 2023 campaign after undergoing shoulder surgery in November 2022. The one-time All-Star has been sensational with the Boys in Blue.

He’s recorded a 2.45 ERA, 10-9 win-loss record, 3.00 FIP, 1.01 WHIP, and a 175 ERA+ in 104 appearances and 103 innings pitched.

Treinen is ready to show the baseball world and Dodger faithful what they’ve been missing.

“This year’s really special, and I really want to get back and prove to people that God’s not done with this story,” Treinen said.

He will come out with something to prove. We can’t wait to see him back on the mound soon enough.
