Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw Could Get His First Start At Two Stadiums This Season
The 2023 MLB schedule looks slightly different than what we’ve become accustomed to. There will still be a 162-game season; however, how the way those 162 games are distributed is different. For the first time in MLB history, each team will go up against the other 29 teams during the regular season.
That results in the number of divisional games for each to decrease from 76 games to 52 games.
The reason for this change is the appeal of seeing star players from each league seeing each other every season, at least for one series.
MLB.com made a list of stars making their ballpark debuts in 2023, and future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw has a chance to do just that come summer.

That Kershaw has yet to take the mound at Camden Yards is pretty surprising given that the three-time Cy Young Award winner has been in the Majors for 15 years. It’ll be thrilling for Baltimore fans to finally get to see the future Hall of Famer take the ball if he does, indeed, pitch during the Dodgers’ July visit. The Dodgers series will be immediately preceded by a visit from Chisholm and the Marlins.”
LA will travel to Baltimore in their second series after the All-Star break, and the lefty has a chance to make his ballpark debut at Camden Yards. Baltimore’s view from behind the plate is astonishing, and it’ll be cool to see Kersh getting his first career start there, barring health and rotation.
Another AL East ballpark where Kershaw could make his ballpark debut is Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. MLB.com had this to say about Kersh and a possible start in late August.
“Clayton Kershaw (Aug. 25-27) Kershaw has never taken the mound at Fenway? That’s right, so it’s going to be quite a moment if his turn to pitch comes during the Dodgers’ visit to Boston in late August.”
This might be a mistake. As Dodger fans may remember, the Dodgers and the Red Sox faced off against each other in the 2018 World Series. In game one of that series, Clayton made his debut at the historic Fenway, where he picked up the loss going four innings, allowing seven hits, five earned runs, and five strikeouts in 79 pitches.
His debut at Fenway was forgettable, so I don’t blame the writers over at MLB for forgetting about that game.
Now that I’m thinking about it let’s forget I said all that and hope Kershaw can make his “debut” at Fenway come late August.
