Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Praised His Team For Bouncing Back Strong Following Tough Stretch

The Los Angeles Dodgers left for their season-long nine-game road trip defeated. They lost three series at home and needed to turn things around in a hurry.

On Saturday, the Dodgers routed the Atlanta Braves 11-2 behind a strong start from ace Tyler Glasnow and a barrage of home runs including Max Muncy’s first-career three-home run game. They have put together full games and have shown manager Dave Roberts what playing a complete game looks like.

“I do remember what they look like now. Our guys have done a good job of showing me what a complete baseball game looks like,” Roberts said. “Looking back at that last homestand, it just wasn’t good. It wasn’t good enough, and our guys realize that, and we won that last game, and from there, we just took off through the road trip and carried over into this homestand.

“It’s fun to watch. It really is. You see the energy on the bench. You see the intensity on the field, and then in the batter’s box, you see the focus. So then to put all that with a lot of talent, it’s winning baseball.”

During this 12-game stretch, the Dodgers have outscored their opponents 78-24. Starting pitching has allowed two runs or fewer in eight starts, the offense has scored at least eight runs in six games, and they have reached double-digits four times.

“We went through a little rough stretch for a homestand there, but it’s baseball,” Muncy said Saturday night. “It’s just one of those things where you have ups and downs. We’re going to have some downs later in the year also. But you’ve just got to find a way to ride it out and know this is who we are as a team, for the most part.”
