Dodgers Game Updates vs Pirates: Julio Urias Needs to Step Up for LA
The Dodgers gritted out a 6-4 win over the Pirates last night and look to secure the series win tonight at Dodger Stadium. Struggling ace Julio Urias (5-5, 4.94 ERA) gets the ball for Dave Roberts, making his second start since coming off the injured list after missing six weeks with a hamstring issue. Pittsburgh counters with Johan Oviedo (3-9, 4.61 ERA) who is trying his best for the Bucs.
Another Dodger win and potential Diamondbacks loss today would put the Dodgers in position to leap frog Arizona and potentially sit in first place in the NL West at the All-Star break.

Pitching Matchup
By now you know the Julio Urias story. This season has been rough for the 2022 NL Cy Young award finalist. His 4.94 ERA is by far his worst in a season as a full time starter. He’s giving up a lot of hits (9.1 per 9) and a lot of home runs (2.2 per 9) while looking unsettled on the mound. This will be his final start of the first half and surely it wouldn’t hurt to head into the break with a solid start under his belt.
What’s more, the Dodgers could really use a good outing from Urias with the bullpen likely being down a few key arms tonight.
Johan Oviedo is starting full time for the first time in his career and is coming off his worst start of the season (5 IP, 8 ER). He’s 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA in two prior appearances against the Dodgers.
