
Dodgers Make Huge Round of Spring Training Roster Cuts
The Dodgers are less than 2 weeks away from Opening Day with some decisions to make with the roster. While most of the final roster moves are basically set, there are still a few last pieces that Dave Roberts and his staff need to figure out.
As promised by Dave, the first round of roster cuts of Spring Training happened today. Roberts mentioned last week that the team would need to start thinning out the locker room to get a better idea of what their roster is going to look like.
The roster cuts also give their full-time players more time to get fully ramped up heading into Opening Day. The Dodgers players removed from the big league camp will likely stick around to stay fresh until minor league camps start up.
Here is the full list of cuts and reassignments made:

Catcher:
Hunter Feduccia
Infielders:
Jacob Amaya, Michael Busch, Omar Estevez, Kody Hoese, Devin Mann, Leonel Valera, and Miguel Vargas.
Outfielders:
Ryan Noda, James Outman, and Andy Pages
Pitchers:
Josiah Gray, Michael Grove, Landon Knack, Nolan Long, Jose Martinez, Bobby Miller, Robinson Ortiz, Ryan Pepiot, Gus Varland, and Kendall Williams.
The Dodgers roster size is now down to 45. They also optioned Keibert Ruiz, Zack Reks, Luke Raley, and pitchers Alex Vesia, Gerardo Carrillo, Andre Jackson, and Edwin Uceta.

Why does this article distinguish between “cuts” and “reassignments”? And also separately state that some players were “optioned”?
