Dodgers News: Chris Taylor Describes Shohei Ohtani’s Workouts: ‘His Work Ethic is Second to None’

New Los Angeles Dodgers addition Shohei Ohtani has already impressed his teammates, including Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor.

Taylor told our very own Doug McKain in an exclusive interview how he was impressed with Ohtani’s work ethic, and how attentive to the little details Ohtani is during his workouts.

“I’ve been working out at the stadium off and on and I see Shohei there quite a bit,” Taylor said. “His work ethic is second to none, he’s super meticulous with everything he does. I don’t think I’ve seen someone take so long in between each and every rep, because he puts that much focus into it.”

Ohtani’s workouts continue to gain notoriety, especially as the Dodgers posted videos of his workout at Dodger Stadium this week. The video showcased Ohtani working on an agility drill, and gave fans an exciting glimpse of what to look forward to as spring training and the 2024 season approaches.

Taylor also elaborated on some of the specifics he’s seen from Ohtani in person during the superstar’s workout.

“Whether he’s doing dry swings in the cage or sprint work out on the field, he’s literally creating a game situation,” Taylor said to McKain. “He’ll have 20 dry swings in the cage and it’s gonna take him 20 minutes because he’s gonna take a minute in between every swing to visualize the situation. He’s gonna step out, take his breaths. It’s pretty special to watch, and I think that’s why he’s as good as he is … When he’s there, he’s focused. He’s all business.”

It’s not surprising to hear how hard of a worker Ohtani is, especially with how talented and accomplished a player he is. However, it’s still impressive for Dodgers players and fans to get a glimpse of what makes their latest superstar so special.
