Dodgers News: Leaving White Sox for First Place Club Has Been Huge for Lance Lynn

The addition of Lance Lynn has been electric for the Dodgers so far. The club acquired the former All-Star ahead of the trade deadline in a five player swap that also netted LA reliever Joe Kelly from the Chicago White Sox.

In 21 starts with Chicago, Lynn had a 6.47 ERA and was one of the AL’s worst pitchers by the numbers. Now, coming off his third start with the Dodgers, he has a 2.00 ERA over his first 18 innings in blue and is looking like another notch Andrew Friedman and the front office can add to its collective belt.

After allowing one unearned run over 5 innings on Friday, Lynn talked about the mental change coming from a bottom-dwelling team like the White Sox and plugging into a first place team in the heat of a pennant chase.

“It’s exciting. This season has been a rebirth for me. I’m excited and enjoying my time here. I’m doing everything I can to help the team win.”

Beyond the mental relief of joining the Dodgers, he’s also mixed in well with the game planning staff, led by catchers Austin Barnes and Will Smith along with pitching coach Mark Prior and company.

“Right now I’m in a good spot,” Lynn said. “I’m working well with the catchers and the offense is scoring runs so it makes it easy to pitch.”

Run support has certainly been at the forefront for the Dodger offense, particularly for Lynn. In his three starts, the LA lineup has scored 7 runs, 8 runs, and 6 runs leading to a perfect 3-0 record since the trade.

Lynn will get an extra day between starts and should next face the Brewers at Dodger Stadium on Thursday.
