Dodgers News: Miguel Rojas Thinks 2023 Will Be a Failure if LA Doesn’t Win World Series

While it hasn’t always translated into World Series wins, the Los Angeles Dodgers are a team all about winning. It’s in the culture of the organization, and they demand excellence every season.

The team knows that they won’t win it all each season, but they put themselves into a place to contend for a title every year at least. It has been impressive to see the consistency of the organization over the years, while others have struggled to put together a few consecutive winning years.

Shortstop Miguel Rojas understands this organizational mindset, as he spent time with LA way back in 2014 before coming back in 2023. He has seen how other places run things and is appreciative of what LA has built. Rojas spoke with analyst Chris Rose and gave his thoughts on the 2023 season.

“This organization expects excellence,” Rojas said. “They go into spring training every single year with an opportunity to win the World Series. When you put this uniform on, you know you’re playing for the championship.”

Rojas was a big part of the 2023 team, even if his bat didn’t always cooperate. He finished the year hitting .236 with five home runs and 31 runs batted in.

After being acquired to be a depth piece for this team, Rojas was thrust into the starting role after an unfortunate injury to starter Gavin Lux. But his leadership and veteran experience have helped this team along the way, and that can’t be overstated.

So, even in this year that was supposed to be a step-back season, he believes that if LA doesn’t win it all, it’s a failure.

“In spring training, we had a really good meeting,” Rojas said. “Dave Roberts was in the middle of the room, and asked all the new guys that we got there why we chose the Dodgers. A couple of us got here via trade but when I got the call, I got the option of saying, ‘No I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to go to the Dodgers to be a utility player.’ What I recapped from that meeting was that everybody is in this clubhouse to win. If we don’t win the World Series this year, it’s going to be a failure, and we’re going to have to do something to win the next year.”

LA will do their best to win the World Series again, and they have the look of a title-contending squad. While things may look less conventional across the roster for the Dodgers, the desire to win hasn’t wavered, and this team has shown that all year long.
