Dodgers Reportedly to Activate Key Bullpen Piece on Sunday

The Dodgers released some great news regarding one of their best bullpen arms. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team could activate right-handed reliever Blake Treinen on Sunday.

Treinen’s return to the mound has been anything but smooth. He pitched just five innings in 2022 before missing the rest of that season and 2023 with a shoulder injury.

He spent this offseason rehabbing his shoulder and was making great strides heading into spring training. Then, he took a line drive off his torso during a spring training game and exited the game early.

Initially, the team indicated that he had a bruised lung and that it was nothing serious. Fast forward several weeks, and Roberts revealed to the media that Treinen had suffered several fractured ribs.

During this most recent rehab stint, Treinen has been with the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City. He has allowed five earned runs in 4.1 innings, but rehab outings should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Dodgers will have to shuffle the roster a bit in the coming days. Not only do they need to make room for Treinen, but former All-Star Walker Buehler will also need a roster spot on Monday.

Currently sitting atop the National League West, the Dodgers are getting back some key pieces for their pitching staff.

  1. For Treinen and Buehler it will likely be Varland and Crismatt. I think they’ll keep trying get to get Feyereisen back to his old self.

  2. It’s not logical, but I have more confidence in Treinen as a closer than Phillips. Phillips reminds me of Mookie’s throws from shortstop to first base — an adventure (thank you Freddie). My main concern is the health of Treinen. Btw, will Andy Pages be a first ballot Hall of Famer?
