Dodgers Rumors: Free Agent Lucas Giolito Interested in Playing Alongside Shohei Ohtani

With the Dodgers entering this offseason desperately in need of starting pitching, they are expected to be aggressive in adding to the team. They are looking all over the league, both on the free agent market and via trade to build out their rotation.

While doing this, they are also making a full pursuit of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. LA has wanted Ohtani in Dodger Blue for a long time, and right now, they remain the favorite to land him.

But the team also has to fill out the roster with other lower-tiered guys as well. One of them that they have an interest in is a familiar one for Dodgers fans, Lucas Giolito.

Giolito has been linked to the Dodger for a long time, and the team almost acquired him at the trade deadline this year. Instead, he went to the Los Angeles Angels, where he got to play alongside Ohtani. And Giolito said that he would love to play with Ohtani again.

The Dodgers could be one place that could make the pairing happen again, and it wouldn’t be too difficult either. Ohtani will be the big-money guy, and Giolito could sign a one-year, prove-it type of contract with LA to boost his value up around the league.

He had himself a strong year before being traded to the Angels, posting an ERA of 3.79 in 21 games with the Chicago White Sox. But it all went downhill for him after the deal, and his ERA ballooned.

Giolito remains a solid candidate for the Dodgers to slot into the back end of their rotation, and with him being from Southern California, there is likely interest from him to come home. Hopefully, we get to see both Ohtani and Giolito wearing Dodgers jerseys next season, as it would be quite the sight for them to link back up in LA.

  1. Considering he hasn’t signed with the Dodgers, so there’s that… By all means though, lock up Giolito.

    1. Are you people out of your minds?!!!
I have to trust that Friedman is not that stupid
Did anyone follow the Angels ( I know few do) after they acquired Gio ???
Worst acquisition since the Dodgers signed Dave Goltz

I’m already sick that we signed Muncy to two more years of .200 ave and not catching groundballs at third
A bad third baseman can send a good team home early
