Dodgers Rumors: Shohei Ohtani to Make Decision By End of Weekend, Says MLB Network Insider

Over the last two days, we have gotten more information regarding the free agency of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani than we have the entire offseason. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts sparked much of the news on Tuesday with his comments saying that the team did indeed meet with Ohtani a few days prior at Dodger Stadium.

Roberts’ comments came as a surprise to the Dodgers front office, with multiple members saying that they were “shocked” he spoke so openly on the subject. Previously, Ohtani’s camp had reportedly told teams that any leaks would be held against them.

We got even more information on the meeting Wednesday, as Insider Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register revealed that the Dodgers’ meeting with Ohtani took place last Friday, December 1. The stadium was closed off to anyone from the outside to avoid unwanted sightings.

With all this news coming out, we seem to be coming close to the finish line of the Ohtani watch this winter. MLB insider Jon Morosi of MLB Network has reported that Ohtani is expected to make his free agency decision by the end of the weekend — and the Dodgers remain the frontrunner to sign him.

Pretty much the entire offseason has been held up waiting for Ohtani to make his decision, so this will be welcomed by many. The hot stove has been cold for far too long, and once Ohtani signs, other moves will fall into place.

If Ohtani signs with the Dodgers, it will be the biggest get for the franchise in history. He would thrive playing in Los Angeles, and the front office would make sure that he would have the chance to win each season.

Hopefully, when all is said and done, he chooses the Dodgers as his new team. The front office has been trying to land Ohtani since he was in high school, so this would be a culmination of their hard work over the last almost decade.
