Gavin Stone will look to toss his first ever scoreless first inning — or just at least look to avoid giving up a few runs. The rookie has yet to pitch into the 5th inning in his big league career and has yet to show his dominant stuff consistently.
Josh Fleming has been used as something of a bulk reliever and occasional starter for the Rays this season and is making only his third start of the year. This could be something of an opener situation for Tampa Bay. J.D. Martinez has faced him the most and has 2 home runs in 13 at-bats.
