Dodgers vs Marlins: Lineups, Pregame Matchups, and More for August 29

Tony Gonsolin was supposed to start this afternoon’s series finale with the Marlins, but with the news that Gonsolin has been placed on the IL with forearm tightness, Michael Grove will make his second career start for the Dodgers in Miami.

Pablo Lopez pitches for the Marlins. Lopez was outstanding to start the season, but he has an ERA of 5.00 over the past three months and 6.00 in his last seven starts. Lopez is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two career starts against the Dodgers (both last year).

Freddie Freeman and Trea Turner, who both played their entire careers in the NL East before coming to the Dodgers, have faced Lopez plenty of times. Freeman is batting .300 against him (9-for-30 with four doubles). Turner is just 5-for-26, but he has two double and a home run among those five hits. Trea is the only current Dodger who has ever homered against Lopez.

Unsurprisingly, no one on the Marlins has ever faced Grove.

Mookie Betts gets a scheduled day off today, with Joey Gallo getting the start in right. Gavin Lux, who played on Sunday after missing three games with a neck issue, also gets the day off, with Hanser Alberto at second base.

Today’s game will mark the 127th game of the season for LA. They are currently 88-38, on pace for over 113 wins. First pitch is scheduled for 3:40 PM PT.
