Dodgers vs. Rockies: Miguel Vargas Held Out of Lineup One Day After Getting Hit on Hand

The Dodgers are getting set for their sixth game of the season, and their final one of the homestand against the Colorado Rockies. The Boys in Blue are coming off a dominant 13-4 victory over the Rockies on Monday night, in which just about everything was clicking for the offense. Freddie Freeman, J.D. Martinez, James Outman and Jason Heyward all had multi-hit games, as the Dodgers terrorized Colorado’s pitching.

On Tuesday, Julio Urias is back on the bump for the Dodgers for his second game of the season, while German Marquez is getting his second start of the year for the Rockies. Both pitchers are coming off six inning appearances with two earned runs, so we could be in for a bit of a pitching duel at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night.

Here’s the lineup the Dodgers are sending out to face the right-handed Marquez:

Notably, rookie Miguel Vargas, who got hit by a pitch in Monday’s game but remained in to finish it, is out of the lineup. We don’t know if this is due to injury, or just to get a day off, as he was able to stay in yesterday’s game. He could just be a little extra sore today.

As for Marquez, he’s made 16 career starts against the Dodgers, and has a pretty solid 3.58 ERA in 93 innings of work. In his career at the Chavez Ravine, Marquez has made eight starts, and has a dominant 2.49 ERA in 50.2 innings of work.

On the other side of things, here’s the lineup the Rockies are sending out to face Urias:

Urias has a 4.91 ERA in in 19 appearances (16 starts) against the Rockies in his career. Last year, Urias made five starts against Colorado, and went 3-1 with a 3.91 ERA in 25.1 innings.

First pitch for Tuesday’s game is at 7:10 p.m. PST. You can watch it on Spectrum SportsNet LA or listen to it on AM570 radio.
