Miguel Rojas Believes Dodgers Need to Be Aggressive, Play With Urgency While Staring Down Elimination

The Dodgers didn’t envision being down 0-2 to the Diamondbacks when their 2023 postseason began but that is their exact position headed into Wednesday night’s elimination game.

Arizona took it to LA at Chavez Ravine in the first two games of their series and shortstop Miguel Rojas knows the team needs their best with their backs against the wall.

“I just feel like we need to have some sense of urgency. We all know what we’re facing. We can’t be cautious or trying to think what we need to do to not get eliminated. We’re not going to think about that. We’re going to think about we need to be aggressive and we need to move forward. That’s my mentality and that’s the mentality that I’m trying to inject to my teammates. We need to be aggressive. We need to think about winning the game. So I feel like everybody’s on the same page on that end.”

LA’s offense hasn’t shown up to play and such issues start with MVP finalists Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

Rojas has as many hits as the two superstars atop the Dodgers lineup combined, a nightmare scenario in the biggest games of the season.

The Dodgers’ No. 9 hitter knows the team’s bats go as their superstar duo will and urged both Betts and Freeman to get them started right in Game 3.

“We all want to have the lead. We all know we carry pretty special guys at the top of the lineup that, if they get going, we’re going to get going.”

A combined 1-13 from the two superstars won’t cut it in October and the first two games of the series have proven that early leads paid massive dividends for the Snakes.

Given the state of the Dodgers’ makeshift pitching staff, getting off to a hot start offensively becomes more important to give Lance Lynn a cushion to begin the game.

Dave Roberts already announced sweeping lineup changes for Game 3 and all of his batters will need their best at the plate to save their season.

Snakes Game 3 starter Brandon Pfaadt struggled in his first start against the Brewers earlier this postseason so it’s very possible for LA to jump on the rookie early.

All eyes will be on LA’s lineup from Betts to Rojas to show the baseball world why they’ve been baseball’s most consistent contender over the past decade.
