Tyler Glasnow Wants to See Clayton Kershaw Back With the Dodgers in 2024

The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a dream offseason so far. They’ve added the best player on the market in Shohei Ohtani, the best pitcher on the market in Yoshinobu Yamamoto and another ace and longtime Dodger fan in Tyler Glasnow.

Dodger fans can’t really ask for much more at this point… but they can ask for a little more.

Clayton Kershaw remains a free agent at this point in the offseason. He announced at the beginning of Nov. that he underwent surgery in his shoulder to repair the glenohumeral ligaments, and that he was hoping to make a return to the field “sometime next summer.”

More recently, he said he wants to play next season, but hasn’t yet made a decision on where — presumably it would be between the Dodgers and his hometown Texas Rangers.

While Dodger fans obviously want Kershaw back — and president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman made it clear the team would welcome him back — the newest Dodger wants to see Kershaw don the blue for another season, too.

Glasnow spoke to our Doug McKain in an exclusive interview and said he wants to see Kershaw back in Los Angeles for the 2024 season.

“It would be amazing,” Glasnow said. “Talk about a super-duper team. If we could get Kershaw in there, too, that would be awesome.”

Aside from the fact that Glasnow grew up a huge fan of Kershaw and would love to play with his all-time favorite pitcher, he also knows the kind of impact he could have on this Dodgers’ rotation.

“The guidance he could provide for (Yoshinobu) Yamamoto being young (and) me for sure. Just picking his brain. He’s done it for so long at such a high level, it would be a win-win-win all around for everybody.”

Similarly to how Glasnow made a pitch for Yamamoto to come to the Dodgers, McKain asked if he wanted to pitch Kershaw on coming back.

“I don’t think I need to pitch him. I think he knows all about how awesome L.A. is and how great the organization is. I hope that he signs back with the Dodgers. That would be incredible.”

  1. Dear Mr. Kershaw, you bleed blue! Your leadership this year could not be over stated. One more run, it should be fun.

  2. I agree Mr Kershaw you are one of those players who define the words Dodger blue.So please consider returning to play with the city that watched you grow and become the future hall of famer you are today. I know I speak for everybody in this city when I say. We would love for you to retire as a dodger. If Kobe Bryant retired after wearing the same jersey for 20 years .I’m sure you would love to retire only wearing dodger blue.??

  3. Mr. Kershaw, you have not only been an outstanding pitcher for the Dodgers over the years, you have been an honored citizen to the city of LA. You have honored us with your amazing abilities on and off the field, please give us one more year to honor you!! Not just in LA, but around the entire league. You are well respected throughout.

  4. Kershaw; Rehab well, get stronger, and go all in with this unbelievable DODGER team in history!
Be one of the DODGER LEGEND, along with other great DODGERS, to play on one team in their whole career.
Go with your heart, and have that number 22 placed high up on the facade at DODGER STADIUM !
Hope to see you on the mound one last time in a World Series Game!

  5. Mr. Kershaw, I am a long, long time Dodger fan. I don’t live in LA either, not even California, but my heart is there every summer. Sometimes I sound like a kid, but I’m far from one, at one time my heart was in Brooklyn every summer.

Please come back to Dodger Blue for at least one more summer.

  6. I’m just going to say it knowing that the Texas Ranger are trying desperately to get Clayton Kershaw I don’t blame them at all. Each year he’s been a free agent they should have been throwing money big time to get him. But now this late in his career and also knowing the Dodgers will for sure offer him a contract that is not only fair but more than fair I will say if Kershaw signs elsewhere it will feel like a stab in the back.

  7. We need Kershaw. Sure, we have a good 4-5 man rotation now, but 2 of those are newbies and one returning from injuries. Our recent history shows you can’t have enough starters. He may not be the best in the playoffs, but so what? He brings wins, lots of them, and eats innings. And with the rotation as it stands now, he could be used as a long reliever in the playoffs. Not to mention his mentorship, club leadership, and his general overall relationship with Dodger fans. You don’t see whole careers with one club any more, and Kersh is the closest we’ve had since Koufax and Drysdale.
