Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Praises Yoshinobu Yamamoto After Facing Him in Live BP

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman might know a thing or two about facing quality MLB pitchers. The former National League MVP and seven-time All-Star has a career .388 OBP and is the definition of a “hitting machine.”

He faced his new teammate earlier today, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, for the first time during live batting practice. Freeman had nothing but praise for the 25-year-old Japanese right-hander.

Yamamoto faced a lineup of Mookie Betts, Freeman, Jason Heyward and Manuel Margot. He seemed to live up to his billing.

Yamamoto takes the mound with an array of different pitches for hitters to face. Based on scouting and metrics, some say he has the best splitter in baseball. He also touts a mid-90s fastball with a curveball eerily reminiscent of his teammate, Clayton Kershaw.

Fans can see Yamamoto for the first time in Dodger Blue when they take on the San Diego Padres in Korea on March 20 or 21. The Dodgers have not said which game he will start, but he will start one of the two games.
