Dodgers Ranked in Top-5 of Starting Rotations Entering 2024 Season

After a disaster of a season from their starting rotation last year, the Dodgers front office worked tirelessly this offseason to make sure things would be different in 2024. They put an emphasis on addressing the starting rotation issues early on in the winter and have now built one of the deeper pitching staffs in the league.

They acquired ace Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays, a move that many believe has gone under the radar. They signed Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who was the second biggest free agent after Shohei Ohtani.

Former ace Walker Buehler will be back at some point this season, while Bobby Miller and Emmet Sheeahn will be looking to replicate their successful rookie years. The team also brought in some extra depth with veteran James Paxton, while also having many young, talented arms waiting for their chance.

And they also re-signed Clayton Kershaw, who won’t pitch until at least July. But when he does return, it will be a nice late-season boost for this squad. So, all in all, the Dodgers had a great offseason in building their rotation.

So much so, that MLB.com’s Anthony Castrovince ranked Los Angeles in the top five of rotations around the league. The Dodgers came in fourth place, behind the Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies.

One could argue that the Dodgers have the best rotation in the game, but they have to prove it first. There are some questions surrounding this stuff, but their upside is the highest in baseball.

They have two ace-level starters at the top of the rotation, but it may take Yamamoto a minute to adjust to pitching in the United States. With Buehler coming back, it will give them another ace-level pitcher to use if he can regain his form.

The biggest thing for the Dodgers is their depth. It’s an impressive group of talented arms that the front office has put together, but now they need to show they can dominate over the course of the season. If they can do that, the sky is the limit for this year’s team.
