Dodgers vs Padres: Lineups, Pregame Matchups, and More for September 28

What was supposed to be a special night for the Dodgers quickly turned sour as the team struggled with defensive miscues that ultimately led to a 10th inning crumble. The Dodgers clawed their way back to tie up the game in the ninth inning, but another Craig Kimbrel blown save keeps the Dodgers one win away from breaking their franchise record.

The Dodgers still lead the season series 12-5 against the Padres and have two more chances to stow away their NL West rivals as they head into the end of the regular season. The Dodgers were 1-17 with runners in scoring position so the only way to go now is up to redeem a tough loss.

Starting for the Dodgers tonight will be Cy Young hopeful Julio Urias who continues to scorch the league with a second best win-loss record of 17-7 and a third best ERA of 2.25. Urias is 7-1 in his last nine starts with two of those wins coming against the Padres.

In his last two outings facing the Padres, Urias accumulated seven strikeouts and three earned runs over 13.0 innings played. Joe Musgrove draws the start for the Padres with the Dodgers scoring four earned runs with two home runs the last time they met in an 11-2 victory.

The Dodgers elected to bring back Joey Gallo, Gavin Lux and Cody Bellinger into their lineup. A strong rotation to hopefully bring Lux up to speed after being gone for most of the beginning of September speed while Bellinger continues to make his way back to October form.

Gallo has struggled as of late, but will get a chance to make an impact for his new team in search of the franchise record.

The first pitch is set for 6:40 PM and can be watched on SNLA or listen through radio broadcast on AM570 and KTNQ. Thursday night marks the final game of the series with Andrew Heaney and Sean Manaea slated to draw the start.
