MLB Executive Believes Dodgers Could Attempt To Land Corbin Burnes and Willy Adames In Package Deal From Brewers

The Dodgers have made clear their desire to upgrade the starting rotation this winter, and they plan to be aggressive in doing so. The team will be looking to add both in free agency and on the trade market, giving them a much better pitching staff for next season.

One of the more interesting names available on the trade market is starter Corbin Burnes from the Milwaukee Brewers. He has been linked to the Dodgers for a while now, and this is possibly the offseason that a deal comes to fruition.

LA has also been talked about with Brewers shortstop Willy Adames, and some believe they could target both this offseason.

MLB insider Mark Feinsand of MLB.com is reporting that one MLB executive believes the Dodgers could make a play at both Burnes and Adames in a package deal.

“The Brewers could make things really interesting if they trade  Corbin Burnes and/or Willy Adames, with one executive speculating that the Dodgers could make an attempt to land both in the same deal. Both Burnes and Adames are eligible for free agency next offseason.”

Per Marc Feinsand of MLB.com

LA would hit two birds with one stone if they made this deal, getting themselves a bonafide ace-level pitcher and a shortstop. With the Brewers seemingly open for business this offseason, the Dodgers should look to take advantage.

Burnes is the best pitcher available on the trade market, and he would instantly serve the Dodgers as their No. 1 starter. He has electric stuff on the mound and would bolster this rotation for next season.

With him heading to free agency after next year, LA could try to re-sign him, and he likely would re-sign to play with a contender. The Dodgers could lock up their front-line guy for years to come this offseason.

As for Adames, LA does have infielder Gavin Lux coming back, but they aren’t completely sure how he will be after his injury. Getting Adames decreases the pressure on Lux to return to full strength right away, and LA upgrades within the infield.

This has been a talked-about move for the Dodgers for quite some time now, and the hope is that they can finally pull the trigger. They could use both players for next season, and possibly beyond.

  1. Trading for Burnes, who will be a free agent after next year, should be contingent on him signing an extension. That will probably be really difficult since he has Scott Boras as his agent. So whatever players go to Milwaukee, Dodgers need to be really prudent in who they offer!

  2. As a Brewers fan, take Corbin. He is as overrated as Hader was.
Willy? I will fight for him.
