Dodgers News: Bobby Miller Wished He Had More Time to Work On One Thing in Minor Leagues

Even after pitching his way into a postseason start in just a few weeks, Dodgers rookie pitcher Bobby Miller’s emergence on the major league roster hasn’t come without some bumps in the road.

Though he’s impressed in his most recent appearances in the big leagues straight from Oklahoma City, Miller wishes he could’ve done more in the minors to prepare for his starts before coming to MLB.

“Game-planning comes in a lot more at this level. I feel like game-planning is super important to learn in the minor leagues, studying hitters and all that, and I wish I’d have learned more before I came up here. While I had somewhat of an idea, I still have a lot of room to improve on that. I think that’s the biggest thing for me: how much time I spend looking at the upcoming lineups I’m going to face.”

Pitching to a 4.03 ERA in his first 19 starts of his major league career, Miller’s emergence as a front line starter in just his first season with the Dodgers has been apparent.

Competitive in all ways, his triple digit stuff has propelled him to successful outings over the past few months and put confidence in manager Dave Roberts that his young righty would be ready for the postseason stage.

Much like Clayton Kershaw, who he’s been attached at the hip to all season long, Miller has the chance to write his name into the history books of great Dodger pitching youngsters in 2023.

Even with lack of proper preparation by his own admission, Miller’s performance for the Dodgers has been invaluable amidst injuries across the rotation to Buehler and Kershaw as well as a shocking off the field arrest concerning Julio Urias.

Fortunately for Los Angeles, another one of their draft picks has blossomed in their minor league system to contribute in the big leagues in a major way and he’ll hope to continue this quest into an October with championship expectations at Chavez Ravine.
