Dodgers Score: Live Game Updates vs Reds, Syndergaard, DeLuca Debut, Muncy Back After Injury

The Dodgers look to put Tuesday’s nightmare behind them and break a three game losing streak. It certainly won’t be easy as they send struggling right-hander Noah Syndergaard (1-4, 6.54 ERA) to the mound at Great American Ballpark.

The Reds counter with rookie left-hander Brandon Williamson (0-0, 4.29 ERA) who’s making the fifth start of his career.

With the lefty on the mound, we see the right-hand heavy LA lineup put together by Dave Roberts.

As expected, Jonny DeLuca will make his major league debut, getting the start in center field. Chris Taylor and Mookie Betts flank the rookie in left and right field respectively with James Outman riding the bench for another day. Freddie Freeman, who had a grand slam on Tuesday, is one of the two left-handed batters in the lineup. Max Muncy is the other one — he’s back in the lineup after jamming his finger and exiting early yesterday.

Miguel Vargas and Miguel Rojas are up the middle, as usual. Will Smith catches Syndergaard.

Pitching Matchup

Noah Syndergaard is pitching for his life today, or at least his spot in the starting rotation. With Julio Urias set to return this weekend in Philly, this could very well be Thor’s last ride in the rotation or on the team in general (no, they won’t just release him).

Since his first start of the season, it’s been pretty much all bad for Syndergaard. Altogether, he’s posted a 1-4 record with a 6.54 ERA and a 7.19 ERA since starting the fourth game of the season. He’s been successful against the Reds in his career, with a 7-0 record and 2.22 ERA in 8 starts (2.29 ERA in three starts at GABP).

The Dodgers have never faced the rookie Brandon Williamson.
