Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Keeping the Faith Despite 2-0 Series Deficit

The Dodgers are in a dire situation. After another 100 win season and countless high points and successes, the club finds itself needing to win three games in a row to keep its World Series hopes alive.

Lose once to the Arizona Diamondbacks and it’s all over.

Through the bleak reality, Dave Roberts is confident his Dodgers will come back in the NLDS. After all, he’s managed a team that’s come back from worse.

“I think a lot of our guys have — some of our guys have been in this spot before as far as facing elimination,” Roberts said referencing the team coming back from down 3-1 to Atlanta in the 2020 NLCS. “I think we’ve just got to pitch better at times and take better at-bats. I think that we have the guys that can do it. And we’ve just got to take better team at-bats and win the next game, win Game 3. If we win Game 3 we’ll pick up the pieces and go from there. We’ve won three games in a row. We’re very familiar with this ballclub. They’re playing good baseball, and we’ve got to find a way to flip the script.”

The difference between then and now is the Dodgers had starters who believed in their ability to win in the postseason. Clayton Kershaw didn’t have a balky shoulder and diminished velocity and command. Both Walker Buehler and Julio Urías knew they could win on the biggest stage. Bobby Miller must have confidence in his ability to win in the postseason.

Luckily, Lance Lynn has pitched in the postseason before and succeeded.

Both Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman need to wake up from their offensive naps and begin producing like they have in the regular season. In 2020, Corey Seager became Hank Aaron, and this Dodger team needs a hitter to lead the way to producing runs.

With the season on the line, the Dodgers play again on Wednesday night.

  1. Roberts is a loser… big difference between a long season and I short series.. and he has proven over and over he can’t get job done… and Don’t tell me about his record..look at his short sreies record.. very poor…he makes bad calls… please get rid of this annual losser

  2. If you seriously believe this is on Roberts, don’t quit your day job.

Starting pitching is a joke and if your two best hitters forget how to do just that, its game over, no matter who is managing.

    1. They need urias bad to start up then batters taje to many strikes knowing full well umps will call a bad strike so they must not wait swing tge damn bat

    2. They need julio, and batters wait for a ball when they dont know if ump will ump ,most often its call a strike. And then its too late

  3. I totally agree with Dave S. This is not on Roberts. He can’t make them hit! He can’t hit for them! He can’t go out there and pitch for them! Should he take Mookie and Freddie out of the line up because they’re not hitting?…..I don’t think so pal!
I have to think the layoff before the division series is at least partly to blame. Just enough time for the bats to go cold. The same nearly happened to the Braves. They really don’t look like the same team either.
I personally think there are too many wild card teams. Yeah the DBs got hot at the end of the season but if you look at their record they shouldn’t even be in the playoffs!
But as far as the Dodgers, you have to admit that the DBs are playing damn good right now. It’s not just that the Dodgers are failing, they are getting beat too!
